Mouse and Keyboard Tester - Real-Time Input Diagnostics

The Mouse and Keyboard Tester lets you check every input event your hardware generates without installing any software. Switch to the Mouse tab to count left clicks, right clicks, and scroll wheel events inside a dedicated test area, or switch to the Keyboard tab to see each key you press logged with a running total and a per-key frequency breakdown. Everything updates live as you interact.

This tool is handy for diagnosing double-click faults, identifying sticky or chattering keys, verifying that all mouse buttons register correctly, and quickly checking whether a new peripheral is working before diving into a game or a long typing session. When you are done, copy the results to your clipboard or export them as a plain text file for future reference or to share with a support team.

How to use it
  1. 1Click the Mouse Tester tab to test mouse input, or the Keyboard Tester tab to test keyboard input.
  2. 2For mouse testing: click or right-click inside the dashed test area to record left and right click events, and scroll inside it to capture scroll up, scroll down, and total wheel distance.
  3. 3For keyboard testing: simply press any key while the page is open - no need to click inside a specific area. Each keystroke is counted and the recent key history updates at the top.
  4. 4Review the live counters and the per-key table to spot missing, double-registering, or unexpectedly frequent keys.
  5. 5Use Reset Mouse or Reset Keyboard to clear the current session, or click Copy Data to copy a summary to your clipboard, or Export Data to download a .txt report.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool record or store my keystrokes?
No. Key events are captured by a browser event listener that only runs while the page is open, and all data stays in local React state. Nothing is stored to disk, sent to a server, or persisted after you close or refresh the tab.
Why does right-click not register outside the test area?
The right-click counter only captures events inside the dashed test area where context menu suppression is active. Right-clicking elsewhere on the page opens the browser context menu as normal and those events are not counted.
Can I use this to check if my mouse has a double-click fault?
Yes. Click once deliberately inside the mouse test area and watch the left click counter. If it jumps by 2 on a single physical click, your mouse button is double-registering - a common sign of worn micro-switch contacts.
Will the keyboard tester work if I am typing in an input field on another app?
The keyboard listener is attached to the browser window, so it only captures keys pressed while this page has focus. Keypresses in other applications or browser tabs are not recorded.
