About this game

Classic Klondike Solitaire, right in your browser

This is Klondike — the Solitaire everyone means when they say 'Solitaire', the one that shipped with Windows and quietly became one of the most-played games in history. Your goal is to build all four suits up from Ace to King on the foundations, working through a shuffled deck by stacking cards in descending order and alternating colours down the seven tableau columns. It runs entirely in your browser with no download, no account and no ads interrupting a game.

Play your way: choose Draw 1 for a relaxed, almost always winnable game, or Draw 3 for the tougher classic challenge. Tap a card and tap where it goes, double-tap to send a card home to the foundations, undo a misstep, and hit Auto-finish once the outcome is decided. A timer and move counter track each game so you can chase a personal best.

How to play
  1. 1Move cards onto the tableau in descending rank and alternating colour (e.g. a red 6 onto a black 7).
  2. 2Only a King (or a run led by a King) can move to an empty column.
  3. 3Build the four foundations up by suit from Ace to King — that's how you win.
  4. 4Click the stock to deal to the waste; when it's empty, click again to recycle. Use Undo and Auto-finish freely.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Klondike Solitaire?
Deal seven columns and build them down in alternating colours (red on black, black on red). Move Aces to the foundations as they appear, then build each foundation up by suit to King. Draw from the stock to find more cards. You win when all 52 cards reach the foundations.
What's the difference between Draw 1 and Draw 3?
Draw 1 turns over one stock card at a time and is far easier — the large majority of deals are winnable. Draw 3 turns three at a time (you can only play the top one), which limits access to the deck and makes for the harder, classic game.
Is every game of Solitaire winnable?
No. In Draw 1, a very high percentage of deals can be won with perfect play, but some are impossible from the start. Draw 3 has a lower win rate. If you're stuck, Undo lets you explore a different line, or start a new game.
Can a King be moved to an empty column?
Yes — empty tableau columns can only be filled by a King, or by a valid run of cards led by a King. Freeing up a column and having a King ready is a key part of good strategy.
Is it free and does it need an app?
It's completely free and runs in your browser — no install, no account, and nothing is uploaded. Bookmark the page and play whenever you like.
