Overview

Voice Typing: dictate text hands-free in your browser

Voice typing turns speech into text as you talk, so you can draft an email, capture notes, or write a message without touching the keyboard. It uses your browser's built-in speech recognition, which means there is nothing to install and no account to create — press start, allow the microphone, and begin speaking. Words appear live, with a faint preview of what is still being recognised before it is committed.

It supports more than a dozen languages and accents, and the transcript is fully editable, so you can fix a name or add punctuation by hand at any time. When you are done, copy the text or download it as a plain .txt file. Speech is handled by your browser's own speech service; this site stores nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Which browsers support voice typing?
It works best in Chrome, Edge and other Chromium-based browsers, which implement the Web Speech API. Some browsers (including Firefox) do not support it, in which case the page shows a notice.
Does it add punctuation automatically?
Recognition inserts some punctuation on its own, and you can say commands like 'comma', 'period' or 'new line' in supported languages. The transcript is editable, so you can also add punctuation by hand.
Is my voice recorded or stored?
This site does not record or store anything. Audio is processed by your browser's speech service to produce text; the resulting transcript stays in your browser until you copy or download it.
Why did it stop listening?
Browsers pause recognition after long silences; this tool automatically restarts it while dictation is on. If it stops for good, check that microphone permission is still granted.
