Frequently asked questions

Why is my GIF file large?
GIFs store every frame, so size grows with length, frame rate and width. For a smaller file, shorten the clip, lower the FPS to 10-12, or reduce the width.
What video formats can I use?
MP4, WebM and MOV are the most reliable. The tool uses FFmpeg, which supports many formats, but MP4 (H.264) is the safest choice.
Why does the first GIF take longer?
The first run downloads a WebAssembly engine (about 30MB), which your browser then caches. Rendering itself also does two passes for better quality.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Everything is processed locally in your browser with WebAssembly; the video is never sent to a server.
