Overview

Audio Cutter: trim any audio to the exact clip

Need just the chorus of a song, a single quote from a podcast, or a ringtone-length snippet? The Audio Cutter lets you load an audio file, listen through it, set a start and end point, and export exactly that section. It works with MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG and other common formats, and because it trims by copying the original audio stream rather than re-encoding, the cut is fast and there is no quality loss.

Unusually for an audio editor, everything runs inside your browser using a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg — the same engine that powers professional audio and video tools. Your file is never uploaded to a server; it is processed locally and handed straight back to you. The first time you trim, the tool downloads its audio engine (about 30MB) and caches it for next time.

Frequently asked questions

Does trimming reduce audio quality?
No. The tool copies the original audio stream between your chosen points rather than re-encoding it, so the clip is bit-for-bit the same quality as the source.
Which formats are supported?
Common formats including MP3, M4A/AAC, WAV, OGG and FLAC work. The exported clip keeps the same format as the file you loaded.
Why does the first trim take a moment?
The first time you use it, the tool downloads a WebAssembly audio engine (about 30MB). Your browser caches it, so later trims start almost instantly.
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing happens in your browser with WebAssembly; the file is never sent to a server.
